#Janathon Day 13: the city to yourself

It was my earliest run for some time this morning, but that did mean being rewarded with an empty city centre to run around willy nilly. I love cities, large and small in that short time before they really wake up and get going. Something magical about it. Which is more than you can say for my IT band…

Spotted on this morning’s run: those precious secret city moments before night fully passes to morning; where no-one is drunk, or sick, angry or wrong; when pools of winter sales shopfront light shines out to no-one; a last smoke before opening up; when a driverless dustcart sits silently outside McDonalds like an addict before a dealer; and before a judgement has been about what this day will be remembered for, if for anything at all.

  1. I had a similar moment for my Janathon last Saturday on my interval session: http://runningdanw.wordpress.com/2015/01/10/janathon-day-10-blown-away/
