Could it be that the Janathon finish line was getting ever closer? Or the morning was just that tiny bit lighter? Whatever the reason, this morning’s run was one of those wonderful, easy flowing runs that reminds you why you bother slogging through the difficult days. Smiles came easily to passers by, drivers stopped and waved me across the road with a thumbs up, or a knowing nod. And then the sun appeared. This is how mornings are meant to start.
Spotted on this morning’s run: a girl holding her mum’s hand on the walk to school, her high-vis jacket loudly announcing ‘here is a child, be careful’; a thick bank of dark cloud holding the horizon hostage, threatening the blue skies above; a pair of pristine new blue, neon blue running shoes on the feet of an immaculately suited woman striding to work and a thumbs up, and a wave across from a kindly driver who decided to check his own progress, not mine.
